Monks and beer

An age-old tradition

From Ancient Egypt through the Middle Ages to the present day

We drink beer thanks to Benedictines

The bridge between the ancient and the modern was built by the monks, and the same goes for beer. And if Pietralba today has a renowned artisan brewery, we know why.

The brewery in the barn

Our beer is brewed in an old monastery barn, where cows, sheep and chickens were once kept. The upper floor was used as accommodation for pilgrims. Today it is used to produce craft beer, carefully crafted by skilled hands and minds.

Nature guides us

The brewery is designed with an automated production line that can operate autonomously throughout the brewing process. We only intervene to load the raw material containers, to remove the finished product at the end of the cycle, and for bottling and shipping.
